about

"Shadows” is the second video single from Forest Ray’s fourth studio album, "Black Pine".

The track's ethereal steel guitar, rock n' roll bends and the late 60’s chamber pop orchestration carry you in a psychedelic and somber jaunt through the adventures of imaginary characters, Dravis and Dude Buddy (DB) Cooper. The video takes place in North Seattle, in the fields of a repurposed naval base and partially shot at an old condemned house in a part of Seattle that is vanishing to condominiums and high rises. Which is by no accident, included in the imagery for this particular song. The song 's mood is complex and bittersweet, rife with introspection yet comes off with an optimistic remorse, sad enough to make you cry but not depressing. A seemingly appropriate somber summer bop for those still searching for their dose of psychedelia and rock n' roll in what might be the most uniquely reflective and bizarre summer of the last century.

lyrics

You're casting your shadow down
When I'm on the ground
My whole life, I-I, I'm wandering into the night
But I don't mind, no
Leaving the past behind
'cause it's all
by my si-i-de

All in all to find out
When it goes dark
I just wanna follow now
From home, hell and half
Well let me take you down
to live your life in the Shadows of your mind
To live your life in the shadows of your mind

You're casting your shadow down
When I'm on the ground
My whole life, I-I, I'm wandering into the night
But I don't mind, no
I just want to know, we tried

All in all to find out
When it goes dark
I just wanna follow now
From home, hell and half
Well let me take you down
to live your life in the Shadows of your mind
To live your life in the shadows of your mind
